Access
Times and altitude difference are for the tour starting at Passo di Giau, without the cable car. Approach times from Passo di Falzarego are similar.
Approach to start
The start of this ferrata is close to Rifugio Averau, a waypoint for the itinerary. You can arrive at this hut in several ways, usually from South or North.
From South you begin the approach hike at Passo di Giau on path 452, or take the cable car from Fedare and save time. A great alternative is to include via ferrata Ra Gusela on approach.
From the North, you can either hike up from Passo di Falzarego or take the cable car from Bai de Dònes.
The route
Via ferrata Averau is a bi-directional route, often crowded in the high season due to the easy cable car access and the popularity of the area. It does not pose technical difficulties.
Descent
Retrace your steps to Rif. Averau and back to Passo di Giau on the same 452 path.
Good to know
- Nearby rock formation Cinque Torri is worth a detour.
