Access
Starting from the town of Bad Goisern near Lake Hallstatt, take a winding road approximately 6 km long, traveling east and then north, until you arrive at the Predigstuhl car park, which is situated across from a hotel.
Approach to start
Continue past the barrier and follow the forest road northeast. After about 15 minutes, you’ll come across a steep footpath on your left that leads to the start of the Predigstuhl via ferrata.
The route
After the steep entry wall, the via ferrata offers additional features that make the short climb enjoyable: a narrow gap and a ridge. At the end of the route, you’ll reach the summit at 1278 meters.
Descent
Descend northward to a saddle, then continue north on path 245, which you used on your approach. Alternatively, you can descend westward, also on path 245, which later connects to Radsteig, a partially secured path that leads back to the car park.
Good to know
- It’s quite short on its own, so it’s best to combine it with other via ferratas in the area: Mein Land – Dein Land, Höhenweg – Ewige Wand, Lindwurm.
