Access

Situated in the Kramsach municipality, the provided coordinates are for a paid parking lot next to the approach path. If all nearby parking areas are full, an additional paid car park is available at the campsites on the west end of the Reintaler See lakes, adding a 15-minute walk to your approach journey.

Approach to start

From the car park, head towards Kramsach for a short distance, then turn right and follow the zigzag path, which is signposted up to the start of the via ferrata cable.

During approach, there is also a short optional detour to a viewpoint overlooking a waterfall, which may have a lower flow outside of rainfall periods.

The route

The main route is graded C/D and offers a challenging experience for intermediate via ferrata climbers. The sportier variant, graded E in the overhanging sections, branches off in the lower third of the climb and rejoins the main route midway through the ascent. Both variants become more difficult when the rock is wet.

Descent

The marked return path initially heads toward Kramsach before descending toward the lakes. It takes about one hour to return to the car park.

Good to know

  • The via ferrata is closed over the Winter, usually from October 1st to Good Friday.
  • At Reintaler See lakes you can go for a swim during the warm Summer months.
